WE ARE DOWN TO THE WIRE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION
The voter registration deadline for Pennsylvania was October 4th. We had one last Saturday, October 2, to get out and register voters in the vital swing state of Pennsylvania. NYPAPAC and Citizen Action New York, as part of the America Votes national coalition, called for volunteers for our final 2004 Voter Registration drive this weekend in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. Thousands of citizens have been going door to door in swing states registering millions of new voters. After this weekend, we'll be shifting our efforts to issue canvassing, but we're making one last big voter registration push all over the country before the coming deadline. We've been extremely successful getting new voters registered this year. We will arrange carpools and provide training and for new volunteers... This is the most important election in your life.

On Saturday, September 25, 2004 at ABC Cafe at 9:30 p.m.The Katherine Aelias Band released their single of their anti-war anthem "Rain". Kathy wrote this song in an effort to counter the push towards war in Iraq. Constant requests for a recording of this song, which is now getting airplay in Germany, lead to its release. A $5.00 donation at the show will include a copy of "Rain" with all profits going to Bush Must Go's effort in the swing state of Pennsylvania. For more information call 607 256-5421 www.Katherineaeliasband.com
The Anti-Bush Concert rallied the stage at Castaways at 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. A $5 suggested donation was taken at the door. On-deck to perform: Johnny Dowd, Urban Horse Thieves, Acoustic Rust, DiN, and Ba! zley's own band, The Don Bazley Project. VOICES OF PROTEST SOUND AT THE ABC CAFE IN ITHACA
Rev1 (Che Broadnax) www.rev1.net/rev1/, Hank Roberts www.hankrobertsmusic.com/, John Simon www.johnsimonmusic.com, and Will Fudeman will join touring acts Catherine Moon, The New Patriots and Daddy, for an evening of dissent and protest music at the ABC Cafe on Stewart Ave in Ithaca on Friday evening, August 27th at 9:30 p.m.. Proceeds from the event ($6 cover) will benefit local Bush Must Go! efforts (scholarships for trip to RNC and yardsigns for those not able to otherwise afford) and regional efforts to unseat President Bush from the White House.
The show is timed to coincide with the week of the Republican National Convention and several of the evening’s performers are touring in protest of the RNC. Among the touring acts is political singer/songwriter and Ithaca College alumni, Catherine Moon. Moon is part of a coalition of musicians and activists called Voices Of The Revolution (VOTR). Several members of VOTR, including the group's founder Jim Grande and his band The New Patriots, decided to hit the road and let their voices be heard through their most preferred method of communication, music. "We're here to say that we mistrust the Bush administration's motives and ethics, and that it's time for a radical change in the leadership of our country." states Catherine Moon.VOTR is a New Jersey based organization of activist/musicians that came together through the grassroots movement for peace and justice. For over a year, the VOTR has been raising money for this movement through benefit concerts and through sales of their compilation CD. But fundraising is just an added bonus. Putting on shows has been a great excuse to get people together and have some fun amidst the serious business of activism during these troubled times. VOTR sees music, poetry and all creative __expression as an essential part of the movement for peace and social justice.
With music as diverse as hip hop and folk, this should prove to be an evening full of inspiring and energizing entertainment.

Nonviolent Direct Action Trainings
In preparation for activities in New York City during the Republican National
Convention (RNC), training for nonviolent direct action will be held:
- on Saturday, August 14th, and on Tuesday August 24th, from 6-9pm, at
Unitarian Church, on the corner of Aurora and Seneca streets.
- on Saturday, August 14th, from 2-6pm, at Autumn
Leaves bookstore (upstairs), 115, the Commons
At each of this training we shared scenarios likely to be encountered in
New York City during the RNC. We also shared strategies for dealing with
police violence, for remaining nonviolent in the face of violence, and for
de-escalating tensions. We all shared with each other a little about past
and present resistance movements that inspire us and inform our work. Finally,
we did some role playing of direct action scenarios. There were also
exercises and discussions to help each of us clarify our own definition, beliefs
and practices around nonviolence. The trainings are designed to include
participants with lots of nonviolent direct action experience and those
with none. Everyone is welcome. You can call ahead or just show up.
The trainings are for people who are planning to participate in direct action
and those who are not.
